Learner Assessment

Of the 5 core competencies of a clinical educator, I am weakest in learner assessment. I do my best to provide direct, real-time feedback when working with other learners and teachers and have not focused on summative forms of assessment.

I do use quizzes, questions, and queries when presenting teaching cases or learning points in the hopes that an in-moment learner self-assessment enhances dedication to learning about the presented topic.

A good clinical educator will have expertise (or at the very least, some modicum of experience) in all 5 of the domains of clinical education: teaching, assessment, mentorship, curriculum development, and leadership. Click below to see what I have done in each of these five fields!
